AGI Congress and Open, Trieste. Design: Studio Mut, Typeface by Piero Di Biase, Formula Type. @agigraphic The identity for the AGI Congress and Open in Trieste was developed by Thomas Kronbichler and Martin Kerschbaumer (Studio Mut) in collaboration with Piero di Biase / Formula Type. The trio agreed that stencil typefaces in the harbour and on ships were a good and valid inspiration. Much later, the organizing team would decide that the topic of the event would be «Together», making the idea of a stencil even more relevant: the font would have pieces who are «apart», but the reader would bring it «together» in his own mind. Using the first versions of the Stencil Font (later dubbed «FT Together»), Studio Mut developed the identity, using pieces of the letters to emphasise being together and being apart. The color palette was chosen to be not harmonious but emphasising the differences and tensions between the several actors coming together. The most important part of the design was the playful collaging of the defined elements: the tension between equilibrium and randomness. The typeface consists in a single bold weight with more that 300 glyphs, covering most of the western languages. FT Together was designed at Formula Type by Piero Di Biase.
